FA.C.E. – Farsi Comunità Educanti (Becoming Educating Communities)


The project FA.C.E – Farsi Comunità Educanti (FA.C.E. – Becoming Educating Communities), whose leading partner is Fondazione Reggio Children – Centro Loris Malaguzzi, has been selected by the social enterprise Con I Bambini within the Fund for the contrast of child educational poverty and it sees involved 4 territories: Napoli, Palermo, Reggio Emilia and Teramo, each one characterized  by different contexts and consequently with different needs and socio-cultural resources.

The project, which covers 3 years period, wants to involve and support the territories in giving an answer to those challenges that interest them and it aims to enhance the access to educational and care services of children aged 0 to 6 by promoting the participation of the families, starting from families in socio-economic difficulty and reaching the ones who don’t have access to educational services. The final goal of the project is to create the conditions for the constitution of educating communities that could lead to a re-definition of the educational politics in the territories involved.

After a first phase of study of the state of the art of the existing educational services for the first childhood in the territories as well as an analysis of the needs and desires of the families, it has been possible to activate a second phase of co-design paths at local level during which all the local partners together with parents, teachers and associations worked together to develop the pilot services for the early childhood that will constitute the third phase of the project, starting from autumn 2019.

Two years after the end of the project, it will produced a final report of impact evaluation on the well-being status of children and families who have been involved, based on some markers monitored during the path.
