In many countries of the world, investing in education is not considered a priority. Even if it is well-known that the first years of life are fundamental for the development of people, the investment to guarantee children the right to quality infant toddler centres and preschools is very small. Still today, people working in schools with children, especially young children, are often forced to self fund its own professional development. The vision of investing in education for very young children is a benefit for every community, yet a reality for few.
Reggio Children Foundation has decided to launch a fund raising project with the aim to give the possibility to people who would not have it normally, to learn about the pedagogical approach developed in Reggio Emilia over 50 years of continued study and research on learning and knowledge processes of children and adults.
Each 3.000 euro raised will constitute a grant to cover the attendance to a study group in Reggio Emilia, the board and lodging for one week and study material, a portion of travel costs, the organization of activities and logistics.
The beneficiaries will be identified, in collaboration with the Reggio Children International Network, with their reference organization (school, municipality or other formal organization) among the 5 continents. on the basis of their experience, their role and the benefits that their training will give to their community.
The first grant was awarded to a teacher from South Africa, Haiti, Amazon in Colombia…
